Compliance with EU directives and regulations

VDS Rail Srl and its products comply with all the directives and regulations of the European Union in force. Many of these are aimed at protecting the environment, health and safety of the consumer with reference to the production, distribution and use of the products. Below is a brief summary of the main EU directives and relevant EU regulations and their compliance.

Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE Directive)

The WEEE Directive aims to raise the awareness of the community to reuse and recycle electrical and electronic equipment. Under the WEEE Directive, producers are encouraged to design and produce equipment in line with these considerations and are financially responsible for the management of the waste electrical and electronic equipment they place on the market. VDS Rail accepts these considerations and takes it into account in designing its products.

Directive 2014/30/EU on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC Directive)

The electrical devices interact each other if they are connected or close to each other. The EMC directive aims to keep these side effects under control. VDS submits its electrical and electronic products to a testing process to ensure that they do not cause or otherwise suffer electromagnetic interference near other electrical and electronic products.

Directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances (RoHS Directive)

VDS Rail products are fully compliant with the RoHS directive and none of the electrical and electronic equipment contains levels higher than the legal ones.

Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

While other laws continue to exist, REACH is currently the main legislative framework for controlling the production, import and use of chemicals in the EU. REACH aims at protecting human health and the environment by effectively giving the industry more responsibility for the management of dangers arising from chemicals. VDS takes the necessary steps to ensure that all itsproducts comply with the current REACH Regulation.

CE mark

The CE mark is a requirement of certain European Directives classified as "New Approach" Directives (including many of those mentioned above). The CE mark is a manufacturer's statement that its product complies with all the relevant requirements of the applicable Directives. VDS products bear the CE mark to demonstrate that we have taken all the necessary steps to ensure that our products meet the relevant requirements.
