Layer 3 ETBN

High-performance train backbone node
Layer 3 ETBN image

The Layer 3 ETBN device is the ultimate product designed with superior IPv4 performances providing enough power to handle high speed network communications among the consists/train-sets. This permits to fulfill the IEC-61375 train coupling logic.

Due to the innovative and advanced technology used, Layer 3 ETBN is able to both route and translate (NAT) up to 180 millions of packets per second, meaning much more than the single GbE wire-speed, with an extremely low latency guaranteed by the hardware-backed operations, opening to actual and future high performances networks implementations as well as creating new service categories.

Layer 3 ETBN is equipped with double switched backbone lines protected by bypass relays with maximum speed up to 2 Gbps in aggregate mode and a GbE routed port.

Since routing is completely implemented in hardware, wire-speed routing is supported on all routed ports concurrently.

IEC Train inauguration procedure is fully supported as well as ETBN control interface for TRDP devices. Other interfaces (SNMP, REST) are also available in order to provide a wide range of potential implementations.

On the consist side, the TTCMP© protocol provides automatic network devices configuration and continuous monitoring, giving the customer a way to reduce commissioning and maintenance costs.

Designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions typical of rolling stock applications, the Layer 3 ETBN can be powered from 24 Vdc to 110 Vdc nominal voltage.

Fully EN 50155 compliant, the Layer 3 ETBN provides the highest level of reliability and robustness required by the railway industry.
